 The Long War

At the monthly meeting of the Gulf Coast Economic Club, Michael Ferguson, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army for North Florida, spoke in clear and uncertain terms that left no confusion in the minds of the audience. He opened his talk by thanking all of the veterans of World War II, then Korea, then Viet Nam. When he asked if there were any veterans of the Iraqi conflicts, there were none in attendance, but a few proud parents and grand parents accepted his thanks for their service as well.

Mike Ferguson, a retired Army Brigadier General, then went into a brief history of the current Muslim problems menacing peace in the entire world. He discussed how the Muslim warring culture has existed for several hundreds of years, exactly as the Pope had referenced in a recent talk in Europe.

General Ferguson next went on to say that, the Islamic populations around in the world are the fastest growing religion in the world. He next said that the pool of volunteers that the American armed forces are drawing from for new recruits is diminishing every day. If we are going to survive as a free nation then we all must do our part.

General Ferguson suggested that we evaluate the following five factors:
  1. We need a national commitment to national duty. This does not have to be in uniform, but in any way that can support those that go in harms way to protect America.

  2. We need to maintain a strong economy to be able to pay for the resources necessary to fight a very long war.

  3. We need to provide for economy of forces. The Army, Navy, and Air Force need to make sure they are supporting each other to the best of their ability. The Army-Navy football game is one thing, but after the game is over, all soldiers and sailors are on the same team.

  4. We need to protect and defend our national borders.

  5. We must stay the course. Too many Americans are used to 30-minute television programs that solve problems in 30 minutes or less. This current jihad (Holy war) will go on for many, many years. For some individual to say we must pull all American troops out in 12 or 18 months, indicates that that individual does not understand the real enemy.

Until the Imams stop teaching 5 year olds the most radical interpretation of the Koran and Islam in order to radicalize the youth of Muslim countries the war will continue.. This Jihad approach leads to a fanatical Muslim population willing to die for even imagined wrongs and we must use all tools available to change this attitude and bring Muslim leaders to the peaceful resolution of issues or defeat Islamic Fascism.

Conversion away from fanatical Muslim philosophy will take a lifetime and the United States must be willing to help make the change. No other nation in the world can or will be able to do it.
