Brigadier General
(Ret.) Michael L. Ferguson of Pensacola, FL was awarded the “Order of
Saint Maurice” by Commanding General Michael Ferriter at Fort Benning,
Georgia on 10 February, 2010. This is the National Infantry Association’s
highest honor and recognizes those who have contributed significantly to
the Infantry in ways that are standout in the eyes of the recognizant’s
seniors, subordinates and peers.
Ferguson is an
AV rated
Attorney
who was appointed Civilian Aide to the
Secretary of the Army in 2003. He serves as an advisor to Senior leaders
of the Army and acts as liaison between the Army and State leaders.
He
received his BS degree in Science from West Point and has
also earned advanced Degrees from
the University of Florida in Law,
American University in International
Relations and Central Michigan University in Business Management.
Ferguson has been
awarded some 30 plus awards, decorations, and badges including the
Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze
Star with one "V" device and three
oak leaf clusters, and Purple Heart.
Ferguson is Trustee
Emeritus, University of Florida Law Center Association Board of Trustees;
was Citizens Review Member for Governor Crist's Transition Team; Chairman,
Advisory Council, College of Business, University of West Florida;
Advisory Board Member, Institute of Innovative Community Learning and
BRAIVE Foundation of Jacksonville; Member UWF Military Community Policy
Council; Vice President and member of Board of Directors, Emerald Coast
Honor Flight; and approved Adjunct Professor and Guest Lecturer, College
of Business, University of West Florida. He is a Gideon. He and his wife
have endowed a scholarship for Veterans' children at the University of
West Florida and are Silver Level Sponsors of the Patriot Education
History Book for all 8th grade students in Santa Rosa County,
FL, titled "Freedom". He has been elected to the Pensacola High School
Hall of Fame and he and his wife are Paul Harris fellows. He has received
the Florida Senate Resolution for Outstanding Citizen. |
